Welcome To Alana's Cherished Treasures! Welcome to a very special site for the preservation of women's history, life and culture, - which we hold most dear! When so much of history is just that: "his story," here at Alana's Cherished Treasures, we focus on "her story," which is so often written in the language of the household. How many times have you seen lovely handmade items and wondered about the lives of the women, (for it was most often women) who created them? We may never hear their unspoken words, or know their dreams, but, through collecting we can connect with and honor the mothers, sisters, and daughters who poured so much creativity and imagination into making their homes beautiful and cozy, safe and inviting. All of the items that we catalog and offer for sale are unique, and one-of-a-kind collectibles, and available at very affordable prices. Wander through our virtual isles and you will discover a wide selection of keepsakes, which demonstrate women's sensibilities, craft, and creativity throughout the years. There are vintage Valentine Cards from the 1930's and 1940's, some unused (ever wonder why they were never sent?), some with hand-written sentiments, from days gone by. We also offer perfectly preserved Avon bottles, Depression Glass, as well as handmade doilies, hankies and crochet pieces. Women have been sewing since bones were crafted into needles, and leather into twine. Though methods have changed over the years, our desire to make things has not. And so, we have over a thousand vintage sewing patterns from McCalls, Butterick, Simplicity, Advance, Dubarry and others, including some from the 1940's and 1950's. Perfect for starting or complementing your own special collection. And if you do use one to make a dress, we have beautiful one-of-a-kind vintage accessories like hats, aprons, scarves, gloves and handbags - to complete your outfit. Over 90% of the collectibles at Alana's Cherished Treasures come from the rural communities of Wisconsin. As collectors, we can save these treasures, and preserve "herstory" for future generations.
